I’m fascinated by one of the masters of candid photography, French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. His style of photography was to capture what he called the “decisive moment” in a candid action shot. While on a fifteen minute stroll downtown, I set out to see Charleston how Cartier-Bresson would have seen it through his lens.

Taken under one of Charleston’s many bridges, I used converging lines to draw your attention the center of this image. Using converging lines is a great way to add motion to any photograph.

Ocean Surf Shop on Folly Beach held its inaugural Icebox Open this past Sunday, and neither the waves nor the competition failed to disappoint! Congrats to Kyle Busey, who took home the men’s first place prize of $1,000, and Grace Muckenfuss, who finished first for the women taking home $400.

I couldn’t resist taking a photograph of this man with his loyal (and well trained) companion as they took in the sites of SEWE from the Ashley River. Talk about giving new meaning to the term “doggy paddle!”

The South Carolina Wildlife Expo (SEWE) is finally here with exhibits officially getting underway this morning, and continuing throughout the weekend. The Dock Dogs competition, held at Brittlebank Park, is one of the most popular events of the three-day expo.

This image of the Ben Sawyer Bridge was taken from Sullivan’s Island looking back toward Mount Pleasant as a storm approached. The clouds were amazing! Originally constructed in 1945, the Ben Sawyer Bridge was named in honor of Benjamin Mack Sawyer, the Chief Highway Commissioner of the South Carolina Highway Department from 1926-1940. The bridge…

On Saturday, January 28th, Matt and Melanie Capobianco were joined by a large group of supporters in downtown Charleston as they held a candlelight vigil for their daughter Veronica. To represent the 28 days since Veronica was returned to her biological father, the group lit 28 candles around Colonial Lake and many wore purple shirts…
